Today I looked out my window to see a large turtle walking across our lawn. We’ve been seeing the most random animals since we’ve moved here. The kids were pretty excited to watch it walking around the yard all morning. I’ve heard turtles can be pretty protective and bite and telling the kids that was quite enough for them to keep their distance. On Saturday Mom and I saw an animal walking behind her fence line in the middle of the day right after I finished mowing. After trying to google North American animals to see what it is I think we nailed it down to being a large land beaver…not 100% sure though. Anyway, here is our “pet” turtle. When I checked on him right before lunch I didn’t see him so I walked by the creek and heard a loud splash. I guess he was heading toward the creek the whole time.

Charlotte Nationwide Race 5.25.13
The next morning Gabbs and I got up early to head down to the track for Dustin’s race. My friend Nicole (her boyfriend is our rear tire carrier) rode with us and we had a great time. Thankfully it was too hot and there was a breeze. We qualified on the pole and ran about 5th all race and then pitted toward the end and finished 14th. Praying we catch a break soon…we need a win!!!

Dustin wanted his picture taken with Deangelo Williams who is a running back for the Carolina Panthers. He and Austin are good friends and go to each other’s games/races. He seemed like a really nice and down-to-earth guy. Don’t think he was too excited that I mentioned my niners making the super bowl. But then he laughed it off and said his girlfriend is a diehard Chargers fan so I didn’t feel too bad rubbing it in haha!
Charlotte Sprint Car/Crate Race 5.24.13
On Friday, the whole fam went down to the Charlotte Airport and picked up Gabriella. For those that don’t know Gabbs is the daughter of Doug and Colleen Manmiller who Dustin lived with for about 5 years before moving to NC. So we picked her up and went to Jim N Nicks BBQ for dinner. We had never been there before and the food was AMAZING! For those around here it’s across the hwy from Concord Mills Mall next to Texas Roadhouse. I had the Beef Brisket Sandwich with a side of Mac and Cheese and Dustin had the Pulled Pork Sandwich. We were both very impressed and they even served these mini honey cheese muffins that were so soft and warm…YUM! Sorry no pictures of any of that.
After dinner we had to roll ourselves to the dirt track haha! The kids were super excited to go to the race track and our friend, Ryan Gifford was racing his crate motor too (he’s the #2). Jackson was so excited when we were walking in “Dad, I heawit…racecaws!”
This star-spangled limo was supposed to jump the cars off this ramp but we weren’t able to stay long enough to see it. They kept working the track that the features didn’t even roll off till around 10 or 10:30 and the kids were pooped and ready to go home (well except Davis).
This is Abigail shifting gears with her arms…if you could only hear the sound she made doing it – hilarious!
Here’s Ryan during the heat races. It also happened to be a full moon that night.
